Novartis has again been recognized for its commitment to doing well by doing good in key global rankings. Fortune’s “Change the World” list, published online on Thursday, September 7, placed Novartis in fourth place out of 50 companies listed.

Weatherford Donates to Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts

Weatherford International plc (NYSE: WFT) pledged $25,000 to Feeding Texas, the Texas Food Bank Network, and $25,000 to J.J. Watt's Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund to support and assist in relief efforts across impacted areas. These funds will help provide immediate resources across the state of Texas including food, water, and cleaning supplies, and will aid in long-term rebuilding efforts.

Four organizations will serve as keystone partners of Habitat for Humanity’s response to Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, each making contributions of $1 million or more to support the Habitat Hammers Back initiative. The gifts from the Dow Chemical Company, General Motors, Thrivent Financial and a group of American wind energy companies will support on-the-ground responses to the hurricanes in Texas, Florida and other affected areas.

AEG, the world’s leading sports and entertainment company, is continuing its 11-year partnership with Read to a Child, a national nonprofit literacy and mentoring organization, as a Corporate Reading Partner to increase literacy in Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).

Each week throughout the school year, AEG employees volunteer to meet with a student at Tenth Street Elementary in Pico-Union and read aloud to them as part of Read to a Child’s Lunchtime Reading Program.

Walmart and the Walmart Foundation Announce at Least $1 Million Toward Hurricane Irma Relief and Recovery

In anticipation of Hurricane Irma, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation have made a commitment to provide support for relief efforts through cash and product donations of at least $1 million to organizations helping in response. “We are deeply concerned about the devastating impact Irma is expected to have on the families and communities we serve,” said Kathleen McLaughlin, president of the Walmart Foundation and chief sustainability officer for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. “We are committed to recovery efforts for our customers, associates and neighbors and will be there to help them through this difficult time.”
