Outdoor lifestyle brand Timberland today announces the completion of its second annual urban greening commitment to create and restore outdoor spaces in the U.S. with a transformative community service event in Philadelphia last week.
Materials lacking end-of-life solutions don’t just end up in the landfill - some find their way into rivers and waterways, too. A group of company leaders, representatives from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, and materials technology innovators from the US Business Council for Sustainable Development and the Materials Marketplace, recently gathered on the Living Lands & Waters barge to help solve the problem.

A series of two posters were created feature Eagles Cornerback Jalen Mills, Eagles mascot SWOOP, and two local children, taking the steps to properly wash and dry their hands with a paper towel, with the messages, ‘Clean Hands Make Healthy Fans!’ and ‘Wash. Dry. Fly, Eagles, Fly!’ Jalen Mills’ jersey number is 31, and students are encouraged to wash their hands for 31 seconds. The posters are free and will be made available to schools in the Delaware Valley region.

The Arbor Day Foundation unveiled a brand-new hurricane tree recovery campaign today to get millions of trees back in the ground in the wake of hurricane devastation in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico. The initiative — which will engage and mobilize public and private partners — aims to plant and distribute 5 million trees over the next five years. The Arbor Day Foundation is already engaging with city and state leaders to ensure long-term recovery across the affected regions.
