Providing a "Different Kind of Healing" to Seriously Ill Children and Their Families

In addition to their medical concerns, seriously ill children experience a multitude of emotional challenges including isolation, fear and uncertainty. When Paul Newman founded The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in 1988, he wanted to provide these children with a hideout where they could escape their illness and just be kids. What he didn’t anticipate was the incredible healing impact of being surrounded by others who understood the challenges they face.

Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of leading tire companies have announced the latest results of ongoing international research projects studying the potential health and environmental impacts of tires. The eleven CEOs form the Tire Industry Project (TIP), which was founded in 2005 to identify and offer solutions to sustainability challenges associated with the life cycle of tires. TIP is a proactive organization that operates under the umbrella of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).

De Beers Secretaries Use Their Special Day to Help Young Girl Students

The aim of the P7,000 donation of toiletries and sanitary pads by a total of 32 secretaries from the Orapa, Letlhakane and Damtshaa mines was to support young girls in the hostel at Khwee Primary School in the challenges of developing into young women. It was also a demonstration of Debswana’s value of showing its people care.

The Arbor Day Foundation Announces a Five-Year Partnership With Texas Roadhouse to Restore Hurricane Destroyed Tree Canopies in Forests and Communities

The Arbor Day Foundation announced today a five-year partnership with Texas Roadhouse as part of its newly launched Hurricane Tree Recovery Campaign. Texas Roadhouse has committed funding towards the tree restoration efforts in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico. The initial phase of their $250,000 commitment will focus on planting and distributing trees in affected communities along the gulf coast.

When disasters strike, Major League baseball players strike back. That's why Major Leaguers from across the United States and Latin America traveled to Texas recently to trade in their bats and gloves for hammers and hard hats. The Players Trust relief efforts in Dallas this week were a reminder from Major League Baseball players that they haven’t forgotten victims of the natural disasters that befell southern Texas, Florida, Northern California, Mexico and Puerto Rico earlier this year.

There’s a popular phrase in Haitian creole, “tèt kolé,” which roughly translates to “heads together.” It’s an expression of unity, of working communally to get things done. In the same spirit, International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) approached Heifer International with an idea. One of IFF’s business endeavors is buying vetiver oil from distilleries in Haiti, then either selling it directly or using it to help develop scents for the fragrance industry.
