My Special Aflac Duck™ Comes to Arkansas Children's!

A few Arkansas Children’s team members met with our local Aflac representative, Melanie Reynolds, and she gave a demonstration on the My Special Aflac Duck. These interactive robotic ducks are available complimentary to any of our patients that are undergoing cancer treatment. The duck provides companionship and acts as a toy, robot and medical device. The My Aflac Duck is a unique way to helps kids cope with the difficulties of undergoing treatment and elevates the patient experience. It brings joy to our patients and provides each child a sense of control by allowing them to be the caretaker of the duck while being treated. The duck communicates based on the child’s mood, and dances, nuzzles and cuddles accommodating the emotional needs of the child in real time.

Seen from above, the arid, inhospitable landscape stretches as far as the eye can see, the great swathes of sand interspersed only with the occasional palm tree and small rural community. Kebili, an oasis in this desert, is one such town. Located in south-west Tunisia, it is one of the hottest places on earth and prone to both extreme drought and devastating floods. In 2015, CNH Industrial embarked on an ambitious, three-year, water-management project aimed at helping build and repair traditional water-collection systems, improve agricultural practices and train farmers in the area.

Hormel Foods Hosts Three Student Winners of its Annual MLK Essay Contest

Three winners of the eighth annual Hormel Foods MLK essay contest visited the Hormel Foods corporate offices today to read their winning essays to company employees. The students – Patrick Brown from Little Rock, Ark., Blessyn Champ from Minneapolis, Minn., and Ben Kim from Atlanta, Ga. – claimed the top honors among hundreds of entries from 19 different schools this year. Their visit to the corporate office marks the second time the company has invited essay winners in for a reading.

My Special Aflac Duck™ Wins Big at SXSW

Taking home yet another major award for technology, innovation and corporate responsibility, Aflac today announced the My Special Aflac Duck, an innovative robotic duck that helps children cope with cancer, is the winner of this year’s top Award at SXSW in the Robotics and Hardware category. The prestigious SXSW award is added to a growing list of awards, which includes Engaget’s Best in Show Award at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show and Time Magazine’s recognition as one of the 50 Best inventions for 2018.
