The UPS Foundation Commits $14 Million to Support Community Safety Programs

With the world refugee crisis growing and the risk of other humanitarian tragedy increasing, The UPS Foundation, which leads the global citizenship programs for UPS (NYSE: UPS), will award the highest amount of grant funding and in-kind support ever to advance humanitarian preparedness, response and recovery programs. In addition, it will expand its support and expertise to help make roads safer around the world for drivers, passengers and pedestrians. The combination of grants and in-kind services will go to more than 30 NGOs, non-profit organizations and United Nations (UN) agencies for a total of $14 million.

As the California Water Commission readies for a March 16 public hearing on implementation of California’s Proposition 1 Water Bond, six major businesses—General Mills, Symantec, Fetzer Vineyards, The North Face, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. and Dignity Health—urged the Commission to adopt regulations that would allow for the widest range of projects to strengthen California’s water system, including groundwater recharge projects, and initiatives of all sizes.

Antea Group White Paper on Hazardous Waste Management Services in the Healthcare Sector

To facilitate compliance and to respond to these concerns, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is proposing to establish regulations specifically directed at the management and disposal of hazardous waste pharmaceuticals at healthcare-related facilities. The proposed standards (40 CFR 261, 262, 266, 268, and 273) were published on September 25, 2015 (80 Federal Register 186, 58014). Virtually any pharmacy, supplier, manufacturer and distributor of pharmaceutical products in the United States may be subject to a portion of these regulations.
