Thailand-based East-West Seed outperformed global giants Bayer andSyngenta in the first-ever Access to Seeds Index for South and Southeast Asia, which evaluated the efforts of 24 leading seed companies in the region to support growth in the productivity of smallholder farmers, one of the main targets of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

We are thrilled to welcome Robert Lee, Co-Founder and CEO of Rescuing Leftover Cuisine for a special Thanksgiving week episode. Rescuing Leftover Cuisine is a national nonprofit that targets both the prevention of quality food waste and putting an end to hunger. In the United States alone, 40 percent of food gets tossed every year and on average, 1,160 pounds of food are lost to the garbage pail each year by an American family of four. This amounts to $162 billion in waste annually, which could serve over $58 billion in meals using the national average spent on meals of $2.79.

Astellas Global Health Foundation Launches

Astellas Pharma Inc. (TSE: 4503, President and CEO: Kenji Yasukawa, Ph.D., "Astellas") announced the launch of the Astellas Global Health Foundation (AGHF), a new international philanthropic organization dedicated to improving access to health in underserved global communities. Key areas of focus for the AGHF initially will be neglected tropical and communicable diseases, children’s health and mental health in low-income communities and low-and middle-income countries where Astellas, a company dedicated to improving the health of people around the world, does not have a commercial presence. Additionally, AGHF will fund programs that build healthier communities and provide disaster preparedness and relief in these same geographies.

Xylem Employees Volunteer Over 10,000 Hours During Annual October Global Month of Service

Xylem is proud to announce that its employees volunteered over 10,000 hours across the globe during Xylem Watermark’s Annual October Global Month of Service. Through water source clean-ups, restoration projects, educational water monitoring activities, beach and park clean-ups, community building initiatives, and more, Xylem employee volunteers displayed their true commitment to addressing the global water crisis and protecting safe water resources for communities around the world. With participation from over 100 sites across 34 countries, and over 200 events held worldwide during the month of October, Xylem commends its employees and their dedication to Xylem Watermark’s mission, which led to the biggest Global Month of Service yet.

Each year, Mohawk meets inspiring participants at Susan G. Komen 3-Day events across the United States. Hear the stories and learn more about their journeys in this special video feature.

Through Mohawk’s Cushion the Fight program as part of Decorate for the Cure, Mohawk provides SmartCushion pads to comfort walkers and crew members participating in the 3-Day series. This year, Mohawk donated more than 7,000 pads in total for all seven events. The flooring manufacturer is proud to partner with Susan G. Komen in the fight and support their goal to reduce U.S. breast cancer deaths by 50% by 2026. Since 2001, Mohawk Industries corporate donation programs have collectively contributed more than $5.6 million to Susan G. Komen on behalf of customers and employees.

Special Food Distribution Held for Families in Need

On Tues., Nov. 20 Roadrunner Food Bank will hold a special holiday mobile food pantry distribution to provide food to low-income families and their children right before the Thanksgiving. The distribution will take place at the Cesar Chavez Community Center located at 7505 Kathryn Ave SE starting at 3 pm. It is estimated that more than 400 families will be provided food to take home and receive help with additional services also such as: assistance applying for SNAP (food stamp) benefits, flu shots and other health screenings, Medicare and Medicaid registration, information about housing services, adult literacy help and other services assisting low-income and at-risk people in the community.

Novartis remained the industry leader in access-to-medicine management, and its newly launched Access Principles – which aim to systematically integrate access strategies in how the company researches, develops and delivers medicines globally – have been highlighted as an innovative practice. Employees at the Subaru of America headquarters in Camden, NJ partnered with the Food Bank of South Jersey to donate and pack a record-breaking number of “KidzPacks” containing items that can produce up to four nutritionally-balanced meals and snacks for children in the local Camden community.
