Sands Cares | Celebrating Mobile Hygiene Unit's One-Year Anniversary

Las Vegas ranks sixth in the nation with the largest population of homeless individuals among major cities and is also known to have the third highest number of unaccompanied youth, according to reports by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). In order to provide immediate relief and resources as an active approach against homelessness, Las Vegas Sands partnered with Clean the World through Sands Cares, its corporate giving program, to launch the “Sands Cares Fresh Start Mobile Showers” in July 2017.

Walmart and the Walmart Foundation have made a commitment to provide support through cash and product donations of $50,000 to organizations in response to the severe weather that impacted Marshalltown, Iowa. As a part of this commitment, Walmart is working closely with local officials and governmental entities to help meet the needs of those affected.

Global engineering and construction company Black & Veatch is continuing a successful partnership with Johnson County Library as part of the company’s growing science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) outreach with a renewed 3-year, $90,000 commitment, announced Wednesday, to the Black & Veatch MakerSpace at Central Resource Library.

Benevity saw a big boost in giving to immigrants’ rights organizations following the news about family separations at the U.S. border. Donations to RAICES skyrocketed, as the organization moved from place #13,433 in May to the #2 recipient of funds disbursedon the Benevity platform in June.

Mohawk Group Leaves A Positive Handprint at NeoCon with Solar Energy

Mohawk Group donated the solar flower through our collaboration with Groundswell and Elevate Energy, among others, to benefit The Renaissance Collaborative (TRC), a non-profit organization that supports sustainable and affordable housing and related programming in Chicago. TRC’s offices and its Renaissance Apartments are housed in the restored Wabash Avenue YMCA, continuing the legacy of providing housing and job training in the Bronzeville neighborhood.

Changing Lives at the Sands Cares Fresh Start Mobile Showers

Las Vegas Sands and Clean the World teamed up in July 2017 to launch the “Sands Cares Fresh Start Mobile Showers,” as a response to the growing homelessness population in Southern Nevada, an initiative addressed by Sands Cares, the company’s global corporate giving program. The mobile hygiene unit travels across the valley offering hygiene services to those experiencing homelessness.
