University and College Students Across Western Canada Help Young People Reach Their Infinite Potential

Undergrads at Okanagan College have developed a curriculum that teaches high school students everyday skills ranging from healthy meal preparation to smart spending.

Similarly, a team at Simon Fraser University is empowering high school students across the Metro Vancouver area by providing them with the tools and knowledge needed to build their own businesses. Their project, Bright Ideas, is an eight-week venture development course focused on instilling entrepreneurship skills, business knowledge, and promoting environmental sustainability.

Enactus Okanagan College and Enactus Simon Fraser University have been named the 2018 Scotiabank Youth Empowerment Challenge Regional Champions.

Millions of Volunteers Join Iconic Community Improvement Nonprofit to Champion Clean, Green and Beautiful Communities

The 20th anniversary of Keep America Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup, the nation’s largest community improvement program, officially kicks off on the first day of spring – Tuesday, March 20 – with thousands of cleaning, greening and beautification events scheduled across America through the spring, summer and fall. Many Keep America Beautiful affiliates in warmer regions have already started their Great American Cleanup campaigns.

Smithfield Foods Donation Brings New Indoor Archery Facility to Victory Junction

The Smithfield Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Smithfield Foods, Inc., is pleased to announce its gift of $500,000 to Victory Junction, a children’s camp committed to enriching the lives of children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses by providing life-changing camp experiences. Smithfield’s donation will fund the camp’s new indoor archery range.

Since 2004 Victory Junction has served 47,903 children and their family members through a variety of programs – onsite through summer and family weekend camps and offsite through the camp’s outreach program, Reach, which brings camp-like experiences to children in hospitals and Ronald McDonald Houses.

Bon Air Elementary, in Kokomo, Indiana, was crowned today as the first repeat national champion of Keep America Beautiful’s Recycle-Bowl, the national recycling competition for elementary-, middle- and high-school students, teachers and school communities.

Sands Cares Adopts Local Las Vegas Elementary School

On January 23, 2018, Sands Cares, the company’s corporate giving program, adopted its first school, Helen Herr Elementary School, in partnership with non-profits Spread The Word Nevada (STWN) and Green Our Planet in Las Vegas. The $50,000 donation will fund free books and literacy programs for more than 800 students through 2020.

Marina Bay Sands Team Members brought 40 children from the Dyslexia Association of Singapore and Students Care Service on a fun-filled hospitality career workshop in support of the annual AmCham Corporate Community Day in November.
