AEG’s LA Galaxy will celebrate Pediatric Cancer Awareness Night Saturday, Sept. 30 at StubHub Center when the team hosts Real Salt Lake (7:30 p.m. PT; Spectrum SportsNet, Spectrum Deportes), honoring the Make-A-Wish® Greater Los Angeles as the official Community Partner of the Match. The match, presented by Dannon, during Pediatric Cancer Awareness Night will culminate a month of support from the LA Galaxy, in conjunction with MLS WORKS, of the 4th annual Kick Childhood Cancer Campaign, which encourages fans to “Go Gold” to raise awareness and funds during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

PYXERA Global and Making Cents International are teaming up to co-host an intimate gathering of companies, governments, and vocational providers entitled, “Signaling Demand & The Future of Work: Trends, Tools and Tactics to Address the Youth Skills Gap.” Attendees will join this smaller invite-only group to discuss solutions they have seen in their experience hosting and facilitating global programming to close the youth skills gap.

Volkswagen Group of America (VWGoA) recently concluded its inaugural Get Involved “Summer of Service” in which more than 450 employees around the country volunteered over 1400 hours with charitable organizations in the communities where they live and work. Keep America Beautiful, the nation’s iconic community improvement nonprofit organization, and the Environmental Research & Education Foundation (EREF), a nonprofit organization whose mission is to advance scientific research and education for sustainable solid waste management practices, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that outlines an agreement to join efforts on quantifying food waste in K-12 schools. In addition, the MOU outlines the organizations’ aim to provide tools and resources that help reduce school-based food waste.

TD Bank Group, through its urban greening grassroots program, TD Tree Days, is proud to be reaching its goal of planting its 300,000th tree this year. Since the program launched in 2010, TD Tree Days has worked with community organizations across Canada, the United States and Europe to bring together TD employees, their families and friends, and community members to help make a difference in their communities.

“In elementary school, my best friend, Kale, was in a wheelchair and I didn’t know why,” said Bailey Walter, of North Tonawanda, New York. “It took me a long time to ask about it, but in fourth grade I talked to his mom and found out he was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy at 18 months old.” Bailey told her mom she wanted to help Kale. Her goal? For them to dance together by the sixth-grade dance.
