In Perito Moreno, Argentina, near our Cerro Negro mine, we are working to enhance the skills of local youth. Together with the local municipality, we facilitate various skills-building programs for youth in the area.

For the fifth year, Arrow Electronics was the presenting sponsor of Junior Achievement (JA) Business Week. JA Business Week, a week-long camp for high school students, allows teens to explore leadership concepts and build confidence alongside Denver’s business leaders. The unique project-based program focuses on practical applications and real-world problem solving.

American Express announced today that the company will join forces with Strive for College and UStrive Inc. to increase college access for students across the United States. Strive for College is a national nonprofit that provides students with mentoring through the college admissions and financial aid application process through the UStrive virtual mentoring platform. American Express has committed $500,000 to the initiative, and plans to engage hundreds of American Express professionals as mentors to the underserved youth Strive for College serves.

Walmart announced plans to offer subsidized college tuition for its 1.4 million workers in the United States, joining a growing list of companies that are helping employees pay for higher education as a perk in a tight labor market.

In partnership with Guild Education, a leading education benefits platform, Walmart associates will be able to access affordable, high-quality associate’s and bachelor’s degrees in Business or Supply Chain Management. Under the program, which will be made available to all Walmart U.S. and Sam’s Club associates, Walmart will subsidize the cost of higher education, beyond financial aid and an associate contribution equivalent to $1 a day.

Voya Financial, Inc. has announced the winners of Voya Scholars — a scholarship program launched in collaboration with its nonprofit partner, Scholarship America. Voya Financial Chairman and CEO Rodney O. Martin Jr. announced the recipients of five $10,000 scholarships at Scholarship America's 2018 Dreams to Success awards dinner in Washington, D.C. The event celebrated students completing their postsecondary degrees, and honored those who have helped students achieve their educational goals.

Strengthening its commitment to equipping future leaders with the skills, experiences and networks necessary to succeed, The Ohio State University Max M. Fisher College of Business has announced the establishment of the ScottsMiracle-Gro Hagedorn Legacy Endowment, a $1 million fund to help students pursue their dreams of attending college.

Emphasizing the importance of workforce development and science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), Duke Energy recently awarded more than $1.56 million in grants to 46 Florida-based programs. The grants are administered through the Duke Energy Foundation, which provides philanthropic support to communities served by Duke Energy, with a focus on "K to Career" educational and workforce development initiatives, the environment and community impact.

Erika Irish Brown was honored for her contributions to the finance industry at the 2018 CollegeBound Initiative (CBI) Celebration on Tuesday evening, May 15, 2018. CBI is a comprehensive college guidance program which empowers more than 18,000 young women and men to realize their higher education and life potential.
