VIDEO | Schneider Electric Uses Solar Power to Illuminate Primary Schools for 45K Students in Africa

Today nearly 1.3 billion people — almost 1 of every 5 persons on the planet — lack access to modern energy. Almost all live in poverty in rural sub-Saharan Africa and developing Asia, unconnected to utility networks. Many companies offer stand-alone solar powered systems and mini-grid solutions, but the target communities often cannot afford the purchase price and lack the know-how to operate the systems. There are elements of a successful, sustainable approach to rural electrification projects, with examples of innovative business models and a case study of Schneider Electric’s Access to Energy program.

CSD Learns Awarded $75,000 Grant From Wells Fargo

Communication Service for the Deaf (CSD) Learns announced that the organization received a $75,000 grant from the Wells Fargo Foundation to create a pilot American Sign Language (ASL) Financial Education Series. Content from Wells Fargo’s Hands On Banking® online financial learning center, such as Dealing with Debt and Getting Started with Investing, will be provided in ASL on the CSD Learns site.

T. Rowe Price: Parents Who Stick to Their Holiday Spending Budgets Are More Likely to Shop Online

T. Rowe Price’s 2017 Parents Kids & Money Survey, which sampled parents of 8 to 14 year olds nationally and their kids, found that 72% of the parents surveyed set a specific budget for holiday spending, yet 58% of the parents surveyed agree that they spend more money during the holidays than they intended.
