Bloomberg Launches News Voices Initiative in Dubai

Bloomberg recently announced the expansion of its New Voices initiative to the Middle East at an event held in its Dubai office and attended by 50 public relations and finance professionals from the region. Dubai is the latest city to join New York, San Francisco, London, Toronto and Hong Kong in the New Voices initiative; Sydney and Mumbai will join later this year.

The Launch of Employee Resource Groups Brings an Inclusive Spirit to Viacom

Last month, 300 Viacom employees gathered on the outdoor pavilion of their Buenos Aires office, clad in sunglasses to temper the summer sunshine. A mix of long-time Viacom employees and those that joined the company via its 2016 acquisition of broadcaster Telefe, they browsed informational stations about Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) devoted to the interests of women, parents, the LGBTQ community, and aspiring next-generation professionals.

Over the past five years, our journey towards a more diverse and inclusive workplace has evolved from a targeted focus on women to an intersectional program for all employees. While we continue to learn and iterate to provide the best environment for our employees to thrive, we are steadfast in our belief in the power of human difference. In order to harness that power, Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) continues to be a critical business priority. We’ve taken an agile approach. We continue to innovate, testing research against practical application, and evolve our programs, tools and policies to drive change both in our organization and across the broader technology industry.

Merck has been recognized by the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) for its commitment to diversity and inclusion. AISES released its listing of the 50 Top STEM Workplaces for Indigenous STEM Professionals in the Spring 2019 issue of Winds of Change, AISES’ national magazine which focuses on career and educational advancement for Native people in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).

Merck Named on 2019 Best Places to Work List for LGBTQ Equality by Human Rights Campaign Foundation

Merck has been named a 2019 best place to work for LGBTQ equality by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation. This marks the seventh year in a row that the company received 100% on HRC's Corporate Equality Index, a national benchmarking tool which evaluates LGBTQ-related policies and practices including domestic partner benefits, surrogacy, parental leave and adoption benefits.

Networking, Culture Pave Way for Women at PNC

Vicki Henn got her start at PNC Bank more than 25 years ago. Today she is executive vice president and chief human resources officer at the company. “I’m an example of what happens when you identify talent in someone and then make an investment – (PNC CEO) Bill Demchak did that with me.” Henn has made it part of her mission to provide opportunities for others in the same way.

Sunday, April 7 marked the 19th year of A Special Evening, an annual Dallas/Fort Worth-area benefit concert event that supports My Possibilities and the organization’s LaunchAbility Career Services program.
