Mack Trucks Unveils History of Refuse Exhibit at Mack Trucks Historical Museum

The Mack Trucks Historical Museum unveiled an all-new exhibit titled “Keeping America Clean: The Evolution of the Waste Industry.” The exhibit, which features three antique Mack® trucks and an interactive visitor education display, was made possible thanks to support from Mack Trucks and Republic Services, an industry leader in recycling and waste disposal and longtime Mack customer. A brief ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to officially open the exhibit.

Nature-Inspired Water Leak Detection System Wins the 2019 $100,000 Ray of Hope Prize

Twenty percent of the world's clean pumped water is lost due to leaking pipes, and current technology cannot detect leaks accurately enough or early enough to prevent either water loss or major infrastructure damage. Startup company Watchtower Robotics is tackling this problem creatively and effectively, and today was awarded the 2019 $100,000 Ray of Hope Prize® for its efforts during the GreenBiz Circularity Conference. The prize is sponsored by the Ray C. Anderson Foundation and awarded annually to the top team in the Biomimicry Launchpad, an accelerator focused on nature-inspired solutions to global challenges.

SC Johnson Brings Acclaimed “Love Sonia” Anti-Human Trafficking Film to Racine, Wisconsin

SC Johnson hosted a screening of the acclaimed film “Love Sonia,” the story of a young girl’s journey to rescue her sister from the dangerous world of human trafficking after their debt-ridden father sells her into prostitution. Inspired by real-life events, the film is the directorial debut from “Slumdog Millionaire” producer Tabrez Noorani and exposes the disturbing issue of international human trafficking. The film was shown to an audience of law enforcement professionals, educators, medical professionals, community leaders and the general public at the company’s Golden Rondelle Theater in Racine, Wisconsin on Thursday, June 13.

Feeding Survivors of Disasters Without Single-use Plastics

Last fall, 3BL Media honored chef José Andrés as the inaugural Brands Taking Stands Humanitarian Award winner for feeding millions of hungry survivors of devastating hurricanes, earthquakes and other disasters. We all marveled at the efficiency of Andrés’ World Central Kitchen as the nonprofit rapidly erected feeding centers in Puerto Rico, Haiti and Nicaragua to cook and distribute hot, nutritious meals. Fast forward to today, Tupperware announced a partnership to supply durable, multi-use food storage containers and logistical support to provide them at scale when World Central Kitchen responds to disaster.
