Xylem Korea Cleans Up Tae An Beach as Part of First-Ever Watermark Activity

On September 22, 2017, all 39 employees from Xylem Korea participated in a beach clean-up at Tae An beach as part of their first-ever Watermark activity.

Xylem Watermark Volunteers Participate in Little Miami River Kleen Sweep

In just two hours, volunteers removed 20 tires and several bags of garbage from the river. Activities like the Kleen Sweep are important for protecting the health of the local Little Miami River, and providing volunteers with the opportunity to get involved with local nonprofit partners, with whom they will continue to plan and execute volunteer events throughout the year.

Houston Resident Uses Volunteer Coordination Experience, Tech Skills to Help After Hurricane Harvey

When Ronnie Devries realized how many Houston residents were in need following the devastation of Hurricane Harvey, he knew he could help. With experience as the volunteer coordinator for TXRX Labs, a local nonprofit “hackerspace,” Ronnie helped create a makeshift command center at Houston’s George R. Brown Convention Center – which quickly became a shelter for thousands of residents displaced by the storm. Working overnight, he helped set up a system for volunteer coordination to ensure volunteers were matched with all aspects of shelter operations.

Carnival Corporation's Holland America Line Makes $25,000 Donation to Seattle Children’s Hospital as Part of K’s for Kids With the Seattle Mariners

Holland America Line Vice President, Public Relations, Sally Andrews presented a check for $25,000 to Seattle Children’s Hospital’s Uncompensated Care Fund Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at the Seattle Mariners’ home game at Safeco Field. The company made the donation as part of its partnership with the Seattle Mariners Major League Baseball team and the K’s for Kids program that debuted during the 2014 baseball season.

Jim Pisani: National Service Is a National Treasure

Congress is back from its August recess and will debate budget appropriations for fiscal year 2018 in the coming months. Thankfully, both the Senate and House Appropriations committees have approved maintaining funding for the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency that runs AmeriCorps and Senior Corps, and funds other national service programs. At Timberland, we believe strongly in the power of service, and we applaud this bipartisan support for national service.
