Volunteers Transform Oklahoma One Gallon of Paint at a Time
A gallon of fresh paint can go a long way in beautifying a community.

In fact, 52 total projects will be executed by 39 different groups across the state of Oklahoma during this year’s Fresh Paint Days, a program founded on the collaboration between H-I-S Coatings, with the help of additional sponsors, and Keep America Beautiful state affiliate Keep Oklahoma Beautiful (KOB).
HEINEKEN USA Drives Responsibility Home
How many times have you heard the phrase “don’t drink and drive”? It’s a good phrase. But is it good enough? At HEINEKEN USA, it’s something we’ve been thinking a lot about. Advocating responsible consumption is a huge part of our Brewing a Better World strategy and a key priority within our global business strategy. Excessive consumption can never be part of a sustainable future for our company or our industry. And with today marking our third annual Enjoy Responsibly Day, we’d like to talk about our commitment to eliminate drunk driving.
Why Design for Recycling Matters in Healthcare and What You Can Do About It
Approximately 25% of medical waste is made up of plastic products and packaging. In fact, the standard protocol for a surgical device has followed the linear ‘make, take, dispose’ model for decades. It wasn’t until recently that this single-use preference was challenged by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation report The New Plastics Economy: Rethinking the Future of Plastics.

At a Juncture in Malaria Eradication
We are at a juncture in malaria eradication. If we can sustain the extraordinary efforts of the past 15 years and continue to invest much needed resources, we stand a chance of reaching a malaria-free world within our generation. The upcoming fifth Replenishment Conference of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in Canada represents an important milestone in the fight against malaria and also gives us a fantastic opportunity to take stock of successes and focus on the work ahead.
Bridging the Nonprofit Leadership Gap
Most of us in and around the social sector have been exposed to the capacity gap that nonprofits confront. On average, nonprofits spend less – often far less – than 10% of their budget on the critical investments that make organizations run and grow, such as business planning, technology, and leadership development.
It’s Not the Pollen Count That’s Making You Miserable
Do you blame the pollen count for your coughing, sneezing and stuffy nose? Do you track the pollen count and stay indoors on heavy pollen days? I hate to tell you, but the quality of air inside of buildings, where people spend about 90 percent of their time, is even more important to your health. Ironically, according to the EPA, indoor air can be two to five times more polluted—and in some cases up to 100 times more polluted—than outdoor air. This is a significant issue in schools, where exposure to allergens, such as dust mites, pests and molds can trigger asthma symptoms.
