Beating NCDs: Why It’s Time to Count Nestlé In!
Today, the United Nations (UN) hosts a highly anticipated meeting to discuss progress and next steps on fighting chronic diseases like cancer, diabetes and heart disease – otherwise known as non-communicable diseases, or NCDs.

We’re keen to play our part, and indeed both the UN and World Health Organization (WHO) recently called upon food and beverage companies like Nestlé to engage in the battle against such diseases.
Our Commitment to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Earlier this year, we announced our target to decrease greenhouse gas emissions 30 percent by 2030. We made this bold public commitment as part of our holistic approach to sustainability, to help people understand what Tyson Foods stands for with respect to environmental responsibility and because we recognize reducing greenhouse gas emissions is an important part of producing sustainable food and protecting our planet for future generations.

We’re very excited to announce that our greenhouse gas emissions target has been accepted by the Science Based Targets initiative, making us the first U.S. protein company in the food and beverage sector to receive such an approval.
Taking Ambition on Climate Change to the Next Level
I had the opportunity to join some of the most passionate and committed advocates for environmental sustainability – primatologist and anthropologist Jane Goodall; government leaders representing countries, states, and cities around the globe; business leaders from top companies including Apple, Bank of America, L’Oreal, Nike, Starbucks, and Salesforce; as well as representatives from the entertainment industry such as Harrison Ford and Alec Baldwin.
A Deeper Look at CECP's Investing in Society: Policies
Investing in Society, CECP’s recently launched compendium of data, research, and case studies illustrates innovations in corporate efforts to solve the world’s most pressing problems. Divided into five sections – Priorities, Performance, People, Planet, and Policies – the collection of insights offers a far-reaching assessment of what leading companies are doing in each of the five focus areas.

In the Policies section, CECP asks, “What are companies doing to promote corporate governance through top-line decisions, such as management responsibilities, internal incentives at the executive level, and employees’ rights?”
Edison Shares Vision for Clean Energy Future at Global Summit
Corporate and government leaders from across the globe gathered in San Francisco recently for the Global Climate Action Summit, an event to promote the sharing of ideas and strategies for curbing greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change.

For Edison International, the summit provided myriad opportunities to introduce an international audience to the company’s vision for a clean energy future and show how that vision can be realized.
U.S. Businesses Push Back Against China Trade Policy
The collision of principle and policy in current affairs has just ratcheted up several notches in intensity. The reason? The latest round of tariffs on Chinese goods imported into the U.S. that takes direct aim at profits at a number of the largest multinationals. After losing the lobbying battle to stave off this latest round, these companies are going public with their protests, hoping to encourage a rollback by taking a collective stand against a policy that hits their bottom line.
Diverse Communities Help Drive Transportation Electrification Into the Future
Regional transportation as we know it today will be transformed over the next several years as California moves forward to meet its ambitious clean energy goals and improve air quality by 2030.

“The governor has set a goal of 5 million electric vehicles on the road in California by 2030. However, we at Edison believe there should be 7 million electric vehicles on the road to meet the climate goals set for the state,” said Chris Thompson, Southern California Edison vice president for Local Public Affairs.

How the Power Was Restored After Hurricane Florence
Hurricane Florence battered eastern North Carolina Sept. 14-Sept. 15 and brought heavy rain inland, knocking out power for millions of people. Trees bashed power lines. Roads buckled. Flooding isolated towns and neighborhoods.
Calling on the Private Sector to Solve the Next Great Health Crisis of Our Time – Global Safe Surgery
The global health world periodically has rude awakenings that expose vulnerabilities in countries’ preparedness to handle health crises. The outbreaks of Ebola and Zika in recent years are a glaring example of this weakness, exposing how poorly prepared areas like West Africa were for threats of that magnitude. Governments, civil society, and the private sector leapt into action with the resources to help, but their aid arrived late and was not completely organized, rendering their relationships and resources underutilized. The next global emergency is always lurking around the corner, making advance preparation of key resources all that much more important.
