This week, we hosted our 9th annual Dell Women’s Entrepreneur Network Summit (DWEN) in Toronto, Canada, bringing together more than 100 women entrepreneurs from 16 countries and 25 industries, the investment community and the next generation of innovators and trailblazers through our Girls Track!

Learning becomes deeper and longer lasting when it involves creativity, discovery and community. That’s why I’m so excited to help support Walmart and the Walmart Foundation in their giving efforts. Through my job as a senior grant manager for the Walmart Foundation, I get to be part of helping organizations like the Scott Family Amazeum, who are working to break down the intimidation factors of STEAM in hopes of inspiring the next generation of engineers, coders, scientists and beyond.

Tetra Tech’s Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Program aims to inspire students to learn about and develop an interest in STEM-related fields. Our program continues to grow, enabling our employees to share their knowledge and to spark a passion for innovation and problem solving with students in our local communities.

For many middle school teachers, taking part in a one-to-one initiative, where every student has a digital device for learning, has led to an existential search. In a technology-driven, student-centered learning environment, what does it mean to be a teacher?

RWCI’s holistic cradle-to-career approach attacks the factors that can keep families poor, from lack of education, skills, child care, affordable housing and transportation to crime, mental health and substance abuse issues. A variety of agencies, including housing, social services and medical, as well as nonprofits and business leaders have footprints planted firmly in the effort.

Tetra Tech’s Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Program aims to help students at all levels—from kindergarten to graduate school—develop an interest in these four technical fields. Tetra Tech employees around the world complete classroom visits, conduct science activities, provide mentorships, and participate in a multitude of programs, including activities that focus on water, science careers, and motivating girls and young women to pursue STEM careers.

With months of ideation, research, creation and pitching behind them, three schools have been named national winners in the $2 million* Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest from Samsung Electronics America, Inc. – a nationwide competition that challenges 6th through 12th graders to use STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) to address real-world issues and inspire change in their local communities.

Paro, the young daydreamer at the center of a new short film by the same name, can’t help but see stories all around her. She’s constantly writing and drawing — during class and under the covers in bed at night. Her creative passion draws her attention away from schoolwork, leading to a confrontation with her parents and her teacher, who confiscates Paro’s beloved journal.
