Keep America Beautiful Celebrates its 65th Anniversary of Improving Communities Across America

On this day in 1953 – Dec. 17 – the iconic national community improvement nonprofit organization Keep America Beautiful was founded when a group of corporate, civic and environmental leaders gathered to unite the public and private sectors to foster a national cleanliness ethic. Sixty-five years later, the remarkable scope and influence of Keep America Beautiful still touches millions of Americans every year in its effort to end littering, improve recycling and beautify America’s communities.

Whole Kids Foundation Awards Bee Hive Grants to Three Chicago Schools

Whole Kids Foundation announced today that it has awarded Bee Hive Grants to three schools in Chicago with money raised from the inaugural Give Bees a Chance campaign this past summer. Grant recipients include Smyth IB World School, Genevieve Melody STEM Elementary School and Community Christian Alternative Academy. Each school will receive support for an educational bee hive on campus, providing students with learning opportunities around science, ecology, nutrition, business and agriculture.

Grant recipients include District of Columbia International School and Hearst Elementary School. Each school will receive support for an educational bee hive on campus, providing students with learning opportunities around science, ecology, nutrition, business and agriculture learning opportunities.

Hormel Foods Recognizes 10th Anniversary of Project SPAMMY®

December marks the 10th anniversary of Hormel Foods Corporation’s first shipment of SPAMMY®, a shelf-stable poultry product fortified with vitamins and minerals the company developed to help prevent childhood malnutrition in Guatemala. Hormel Foods donates more than 2 million cans of SPAMMY® each year, which helps thousands of families.

To commemorate the 10th anniversary, the company is holding a Project SPAMMY® Week. During the week, the 2019 employee engagement trip opportunities will be announced, and stories and videos about Project SPAMMY® and its impact will be showcased. An employee fundraising drive is also taking place to help raise additional funds for scholarships and chispa center supplies.

As winter temperatures set in, hot meals for Atlanta’s neediest seniors are often out of reach. Hunger-fight start-up Goodr continued their innovative pop-up approach to food distribution logistics by partnering with food giant Hormel Foods on November 28, 2018, for a free pop-up grocery store featuring staple Dinty Moore stew. Serving up hot bowls of Dinty Moore stew, Kroger biscuits and fresh produce added Southern hospitality to more basic food distribution.
