Timberland and the Smallholder Farmers Alliance Sow Cotton Seeds and Hope for Haitian Farmers
I hadn’t been to Haiti since June 2010, six months after the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that decimated much of the island. At that time, there were still many ruins of collapsed buildings, piles of rubble along the roadsides, and thousands of people living in makeshift tent camps. This August, I returned to Haiti and saw a very different country.

Timberland Volunteers Leave Their Footprint in the Community for the Company’s 20th Annual Serv-a-Palooza
While the name Serv-a-Palooza may conjure thoughts of the mid-to-late 1990s, global outdoor lifestyle brand Timberland’s enthusiasm for its annual day of service is as current as ever. Over 350 employees of Timberland’s Stratham, New Hampshire headquarters and guests pulled on their boots on September 14 to serve at seven community projects aimed to make nearby communities a little brighter.

This fall, there will be three more classrooms at the Cienfuegos Daycare Center, thanks to outdoor lifestyle brand Timberland and its parent company, VF Corporation. The daycare center, located in one of the poorest areas in the Dominican Republic, cares for many of the children of employees at both the Recreation Footwear Company (RFC), Timberland’s owned footwear factory, and Sun Jade, a factory that makes footwear for Vans, another VF brand.

Timberland Puts Samples to Good Use
The sample sale typically raises at least $10,000, but this year we raised a remarkable $29,345 to benefit Lucy’s Love Bus—a Boston-based non-profit that provides funding for integrative therapies to children with cancer. Employees and their guests came out in record numbers with over 300 in attendance. The funds raised for Lucy’s Love Bus will allow the organization to add four new Healing Rooms at children’s hospitals across New England.
