Frontline of Sustainability: The Toleza Farm in Malawi, Africa
In August, a team of 6 students and faculty from the Marlboro MBA in Managing for Sustainability traveled to Malawi, Africa to visit Toleza Farms, a 4000 acre active farm that employs 700 local citizens. The team expected a typical tour of this Southeast African nation: visiting points of geographic and cultural interest, experiencing a safari, and learning about a large-scale farm business. They instead witnessed the profound humanitarian and environmental challenges that this unique farm faces in its efforts to attain sustainability.
Come learn what the team really discovered about this remarkable business in rural Malawi, and hear about the profound effect this experience had on each of the travelers at the culmination of their MBA studies. Listen to the dreams and challenges faced by individuals in the Toleza Farms community, the legacy this team intends to leave with the Toleza and Marlboro communities, and why one farm in rural Malawi has everything to do with making the curriculum of the MBA in Managing for Sustainability come alive.
