From Insight to Impact is a pilot initiative launched by CNH EMEA to nurture internal talent and promote sustainability-driven entrepreneurship within the company. The program targeted young professionals eager to create tangible, lasting impact across the organization.
The LIXIL Group’s Environmental Vision 2030 outlines the Group’s medium- to long-term goals for water conservation and environmental sustainability. Under this vision, we are working to achieve a Net Zero Environmental Footprint by 2030.
Since product use represents about 80% of the overall environmental footprint of our entire value chain, efforts to enhance our products and services are key to achieving our Environmental Vision 2030.
In FYE2017, we made a Group-wide effort to evaluate and reduce our environmental footprint in our entire value chain around the world.
Even today, about 2.4 billion people—one in every three globally—live without access to proper sanitation. Recognizing the magnitude of the challenge, in FYE2016, LIXIL pledged to provide better sanitation to 100 million people by 2020. Since then, we have been accelerating our efforts to deliver viable toilet solutions to areas lacking adequate sanitation.
Economic textbooks still teach the factors of production as: land, labor and capital. Most humans would still agree that land and labor are the basics of human production. But our view of capital has evolved---along with our systems of production over the past 300 years of industrial development. The early economists missed the role of energy, the hidden ingredient behind their formula, since our entire planet runs on energy from the sun.
Did you know that the forest products industry employs nearly 2.7 million workers in the U.S.? Or that large, uninterrupted forests are habitat to 60% of the U.S.’s at-risk wildlife? Did you know that the security of America’s forestland has undergone a dramatic shift in the last 30 years?
Over the last several months, the Thurgood Marshall College Fund received over 3,500 applications for about 500 scholarships providing financial assistance to students at our 47 historically black member institutions across the country. And while we celebrate that 500 students will be able to continue to complete their academic careers over the course of the 2017-18 academic year with support from our valued corporate partners and donors, being able to help less than one out of every five students who express need is not an acceptable success rate by any means.
AHC Inc. has been building quality affordable housing communities for low and very-low income families since 1975. Every time AHC builds a community, the non-profit not only provide roofs overhead – it helps families build strong foundations. Onsite year-round educational programs are available for children living at AHC’s properties in Arlington, including After-School literacy activities, one-on-one Teen Tutoring, College & Career Readiness, and a Summer Camp to prevent learning loss.
The event is one of the ways the company seeks to gain traditional knowledge as part of the mine’s environmental monitoring programme. A dozen lake trout were caught from Kirk Lake by elders from Behchoko and Lutsel K’e, who were accompanied by a member of the mine’s environment team. Kirk Lake is about 20km downstream from the mine site.
The call to action of the Sustainable Development Goals reaches every level of the educational system, as schools around the world teach lessons related to sustainable development and otherwise incorporate sustainable development into learning.
