Freeport-McMoRan’s Green Valley Community Investment Fund Grants $450,000 to Arizona Communities

Recipients were selected by the Green Valley CIF, which is overseen by a committee of community leaders assembled by the Freeport-McMoRan Community Partnership Panel, to identify and address community needs in health care, education, environment, economic development and transportation with positive, sustainable solutions.

The CIF was established in 2010, as part of Freeport-McMoRan’s objectives to empower communities to develop and identify projects that would help ensure their self-sufficiency beyond the presence of Freeport-McMoRan operations.

21CF Earns 23 Nominations for NAACP Image Awards Celebrating Achievements of People of Color in Media

Long-running drama series, feature documentaries, major motion pictures and more from 21st Century Fox businesses were announced on November 20 as nominees for the 49th NAACP Image Awards, an annual program celebrating the achievements of people of color across the entertainment industry. The company received a total of 23 nominations for projects such as FOX’s Empire, Twentieth Century Fox Television’s This Is Us, and Fox Searchlight’s documentary STEP. The winners will be announced during an awards ceremony in Los Angeles, hosted by Anthony Anderson, which will air live on Monday, Jan. 15, at 9 p.m. ET on TV One.

Flight 497 took off from the Beijing on 21 November. It landed at Chicago’s O’Hare airport at 12:05pm local time. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner completed the more than 11,000km journey with biological aviation fuel produced from waste cooking oil, according to Xinhua.

Teamwork and Skill on Display: A Point of Pride

In 2016, we sponsored and participated in the tenth annual International Mines Rescue Competition in Sudbury, Ontario. The well-attended competition is a global event focused on improving mine rescue knowledge and safety practices, as well as providing an opportunity for participants to demonstrate their abilities and commitment to excellence in mine safety. There were 27 mine rescue teams, representing 13 nations, competing in a number of events including an underground scenario, firefighting exercises, first aid and a high angle rope rescue.

Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management and automation, today announced that it has extended relief efforts to those affected by Hurricane Maria by donating APC by Schneider Electric Mobiya TS170 S portable LED lighting systems to the Light and Hope for Puerto Rico campaign. The solar lanterns will provide citizens with temporary lighting and power to charge mobile devices as the grid continues undergo repairs in the wake of the storm.

General Mills Deepens Investment in Soil Health With $735,000 Contribution to National Wheat Foundation

General Mills continues to invest in soil health practices on U.S. agricultural farmland with its latest contribution of $735,000 to the National Wheat Foundation who together with the Soil Health Partnership, will advance widespread adoption and implementation. The funds, equally distributed over the next three years, will be used to conduct soil health research on wheat farms and education outreach to more than 125,000 wheat farmers across the Northern and Southern Plains. This latest contribution brings General Mills’ recent financial commitments to nearly $3 million for promoting the expanded adoption of soil health practices.
