Our Community Impact in 2017
This time of year, our thoughts are often full of colorfully-wrapped gift bags or boxes with big bright bows. While the holiday season is a special time for giving, we are thankful as well for the opportunity to strengthen lives and communities all year long. Whether through mentoring students, teaching digital skills that lead to higher-paying jobs, or supporting entrepreneurs working to make a difference in their community, our employees and our thousands of nonprofit partners are improving lives every day.

Giving Opportunity Through United Way
We recently wrapped up our annual Employee Giving Campaign for United Way, and are excited and honored to share that Comcast NBCUniversal employees collectively pledged nearly $8 million to help improve communities nationwide. Combined with more than $2 million in matching grants from the Comcast Foundation, our company is providing $10 million in total support, and that means hundreds of United Way affiliates that are in our very own communities will continue to thrive and help people who are most in need.

Finalists Announced for 2017 Comcast Community Champion of the Year Award
Comcast announced the finalists for the 2017 Comcast Community Champion of the Year Award, which was created to recognize the charitable efforts of individuals associated with the NASCAR industry. Comcast’s Xfinity brand has been the Official Entertainment Provider of NASCAR® and entitlement sponsor of the NASCAR XFINITY Series™ since 2015.

Creating a Learning Environment Ripe for Success
Today my school looks drastically different than it did at the beginning of the school year, and that is thanks to the more than 400 members of the Comcast NBCUniversal family, including dozens from their nonprofit partner City Year, who joined us on our campus in April for Comcast Cares Day. The volunteers made change happen by painting bright and colorful murals throughout the school that focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and college preparedness. The physical transformation of the school has inspired our students, where 80 percent of them are eligible for free or reduced lunch, to believe that each and every one can and will be ready for a college career when they graduate.

More Than 105,000 Comcast Cares Day Volunteers Improve Communities Worldwide
Our employees, their friends and families rolled up their sleeves and joined with our community partners to give back at more than 1,000 local projects across the U.S. and in 22 other countries. We also hit a milestone with more than 5 million total service hours donated since Comcast Cares Day began in 2001.

Building Opportunities for All Through Comcast Cares Day
On Saturday, April 22, more than 150 Comcast NBCUniversal and community volunteers banded together to build a fence around the site of a future three-acre park that will be available to kids of all abilities.

Comcast NBCUniversal Celebrates Year-Round Commitment to Volunteerism During Annual Cares Day
On Saturday, April 22nd, more than 100,000 Comcast NBCUniversal employees, and their families and friends, and community partners will participate in the 16th annual Comcast Cares Day, the nation’s largest single-day corporate volunteer effort and a culmination of the company’s year-round commitment to community service. At nearly 1,000 projects across the nation and in approximately 20 countries around the world, volunteers will be revitalizing neglected neighborhoods and parks, teaching digital literacy skills, painting murals, cleaning up beaches, installing computer labs, stocking community food banks, and much more.
