PHILADELPHIA, PA, November 29, 2016 /3BL Media/  - At the NASCAR XFINITY Series™ and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series™ banquet on Monday, November 21, Comcast announced Wade Jackson as the winner of the second annual Comcast Community Champion of the Year Award. Comcast created the award in 2015 to honor NASCAR team members for their outstanding charitable endeavors, awarding $60,000 to the winner’s selected charity and $30,000 to the respective charities of the two remaining finalists.

Wade Jackson, who has worked for JR Motorsports since 2001, lost his 17-year-old son Jacob to a congenital heart defect following open heart surgery. Since their son’s passing, Wade and his wife Kim have poured their resources into the continued growth of Camp LUCK (Lucky Unlimited Cardiac Kids), which was started with Jacob’s help and provides children with heart disease a place to gather together and have fun, with no limits. Wade has volunteered countless hours to spreading the organization’s mission, bringing children with heart disease an experience that mirrors that of their peers. The $60,000 donation made by Comcast on Wade Jackson’s behalf will support the continued growth of Camp LUCK.

"It is an honor to select Wade Jackson as our 2016 Comcast Community Champion of the Year, as he represents the selfless and giving attitude toward helping others that Comcast values so deeply," said Matt Lederer, Executive Director of Sports Marketing at Comcast. "So many of those in the NASCAR industry have a passion for giving back to their communities, and we’re proud to play a part in celebrating their passion with this award."

Jackson, one of three finalists selected for the award, was chosen by a panel of judges consisting of former NASCAR driver Kyle Petty and NASCAR.com reporter Holly Cain, as well as executives from Comcast and NASCAR. The remaining finalists, Samantha Busch and Ray Wright, were each awarded $30,000 toward their respective charities. Each finalist’s story can be viewed by clicking here.
