As a young girl, Shirlie Delacherois was aware of her Aboriginal heritage, but didn’t fully appreciate its value until much later in life. It was after a 20-year career at Scotiabank that Shirlie had the opportunity to continue the bank’s long history of supporting Aboriginal Peoples — by stepping into the role of Senior Aboriginal Recruitment Consultant. She has been connecting Aboriginal Canadians to career opportunities at Scotiabank ever since.

In partnership with Comunidad y Ambiente Adonai, Scotiabank Mexico supported the development of 50 young people in the northern region of Oaxaca by helping them remodel their school and shelter providing them an enhanced place to learn and to live. Procter & Gamble Co. is partnering with actress Gina Rodriguez and the nonprofit Feeding America in a new advertising campaign that aims to build the confidence of girls as they enter puberty.

The Cincinnati-based maker of Always menstrual pads (NYSE: PG) said a recent survey indicated that nearly one in five American girls have either left school early or missed school entirely because they did not have access to period products.

Missed school equals missed opportunities and a drop in confidence, according to P&G.
