George Washington High School in Northeast Philadelphia is calling on its 700 freshmen to make a public commitment to themselves, their families, and their communities, to graduate in four years. George Washington hosted its ‘Reverse Graduation’ for 9th graders, during which each freshman, dressed in cap and gown, will cross the stage and promise to make the necessary personal investments to complete their secondary education.

Citi today announced a total donation of $190,000 to four community partners – City Harvest, United Neighborhood Houses, USO of Metro New York and New York City’s YMCA – through the Citi Community Home Runs Program. Rebuilding Together — a leading national nonprofit in safe and healthy housing that provides low-income homeowners with critical home repairs — will join together with its affiliate, Rebuilding Together St. Louis, to lead its fifth annual Building a Healthy Neighborhood community revitalization project. The effort, supported by lead partner Lowe’s and 275 of its Lowe’s Heroes employee volunteers, will be held in St. John, a small community in St. Louis County, this October 8–10, and is expected to provide more than $760,000 in market value back to the community.
