Dr. Yulsi Lili Fernandez Montero grew up in a medically underserved community like Compton, California, and knew she wanted to practice medicine in a similar community when she finished medical school. Today she is a family medicine and addiction medicine doctor practicing with the MLK Community Medical Group in Compton. However, she said the decision to practice in this type of community can be difficult for many doctors.

Conway Center Revolutionizes Affordable Housing in Washington, D.C.

Just a few years ago, Simone Scott lost her job, lost her home, and suffered a seizure while pregnant, all in a short period of time, leaving her, her young son, and newborn daughter homeless. But after learning about the nonprofit So Others Might Eat, or SOME, Scott received housing and support, allowing her to get back on her feet. Today, she is enjoying her new home at SOME’s Conway Center and hopes to give back to others like herself as a wellness consultant.

Morgan Stanley Strategy Challenge to Benefit 14 Nonprofit Organizations

Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS) today announced the launch of the 11th annual U.S. Strategy Challenge, the Firm’s signature pro bono volunteer program. The Strategy Challenge is in its sixth year in London. Over the next 10 weeks, teams of Morgan Stanley employees in New York and London will work with leadership teams at 14 nonprofit organizations to provide strategic recommendations to address their mission-critical challenges.

Hunger Relief Agencies in 14 States Receive $1.8 Million in Support From Tyson Foods

As part of Tyson Foods’ (NYSE: TSN) ongoing efforts to address food insecurity in its communities, the company announced today $1.8 million in new hunger relief grants. Twenty Feeding America® member food banks and other community hunger relief agencies in 14 states were awarded grants to enhance access to nutritious food and combat hunger. The investments represent approximately five million pounds of food or the equivalent of 20 million servings
