IBM World Community Grid Pioneering New Techniques in the Fight Against HIV

In a decade-long collaboration with over half a million World Community Grid volunteers, The Scripps Research Institute has made significant advances in the fight against HIV. With the virus constantly evolving, the research team is leveraging World Community Grid to pioneer the use of new analysis techniques to more quickly and accurately identify promising anti-HIV drug candidates. These techniques could prove effective for other medical research efforts too.

Children’s Health Fund and Stanford Children’s Health Unveil New State-of the-Art Mobile Medical Unit

Underserved adolescents from San Francisco to San Jose will be the recipients of the most technologically advanced mobile healthcare following today’s unveiling of a new Children’s Health Fund mobile medical unit. Known as the Teen Health Van, the “doctor’s office on wheels” will feature Samsung’s innovative technology and be operated in partnership with Stanford Children’s Health and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford. Through a generous grant from Samsung, the program will provide advanced mobile health care for uninsured and homeless adolescents and young adults through state-of-the-art technology to serve the unique needs of this vulnerable population. Children’s health has also been a focus of the Samsung Hope for Children initiative since 2002.

Costa Luminosa: A Perfect Score For Vessel Sanitation During The Around-The-World Cruise

Costa Luminosa scored full marks (100) in a recent inspection conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States. The inspection was held on 14 October during the call at San Francisco, one of the 39 wonderful destinations included in the Around-the- World cruise of Costa Luminosa.
