Novartis Rises to Second Place in 2018 Access to Medicine Index

Novartis ranked second in the 2018 Access to Medicine Index (ATMi), up from 3rd place in 2016, in recognition of its long-standing efforts to improve worldwide access to healthcare. Novartis remained the industry leader in access-to-medicine management, and its newly launched Access Principles – which aim to systematically integrate access strategies in how the company researches, develops and delivers medicines globally – have been highlighted as an innovative practice. The Novartis CEO and members of the Executive Committee now also have access objectives as part of their individual objectives.

Sands Cares Honored with Governor’s Award in Nevada

The Venetian Resort Las Vegas was recognized for their community service through Sands Cares, the company’s corporate giving and Team Member engagement program, at the 2018 Governor’s Points of Light Awards in October. Second Annual Stephen R. Kellert Biophilic Design Award Winners Announced

The International Living Future Institute (ILFI) honored the late scholar and Yale University social ecologist Stephen R. Kellert’s legacy with the second annual Biophilic Design Award last night at a special award ceremony hosted by Interface, Inc., at the 2018 Greenbuild International Conference and Expo. This year the award was presented to two outstanding projects: The VanDusen Botanical Garden Visitor Centre, and the Dixon Water Foundation Betty and Clint Josey Pavilion.

Nestlé is ranked highest in the first-ever U.S.-focused Access to Nutrition Index (ATNI), which evaluates the policies, practices and product portfolios of ten food and beverage companies. This follows the release of the global index earlier this year, in which Nestlé also placed first.

There is a growing recognition that there are different ways in which families are constructed and how they operate. To that end, MetLife initiated a program in the last few years to help defray some of the legal and non-medical costs of surrogacy. We have also expanded paternity leave, and seen an increase in fathers taking that time. From my own experience, I can say that I was one of the first officers to take a paternity leave as a primary care giver and received excellent support from the Company and my colleagues throughout that experience. And I am preparing to take a similar leave in the next few months as my husband and I expect our second son.
