Leveraging Partnerships for a Healthier Future

CSX values giving back to communities where we operate – but we know we can’t do it alone. We work with several groups, including The Conservation Fund, to bring our shared visions to life. As Jena Thompson Meredith, The Conservation Fund’s Vice President of Business Partnerships, recently said, “With each partnership, we demonstrate that smart, collaborative conservation can drive responsible economic development that’s good for the environment and good for people… When you can harness this for good, it’s incredible and catching.”

Delivering Sustainable Progress and Profitability for Farmers on a Warming Planet

Farmers have always had the challenge of variable weather patterns. A year that delivers rich yields can give way to a drought the next year. Now, farmers must also contend with climate change, which is in some parts of the world adding to the severity of short-term weather extremes while also facilitating a wholesale shift in climate patterns. Add to this a rapidly growing global population that requires access to a safe and nutritious diet and it is easy to understand why conservation agriculture and sustainability are vital to the success of modern farming.

Sustainability Has Never Been More Affordable

Successful sustainability practices are more important than ever. Not only will 90% of investors scrutinize a company’s sustainability performance before making investment decisions (according to this study), but nearly 50% of investors indicated that they would not make any investments if the company had less than optimal sustainability performance. Additionally, due to increased public awareness concerning the use of conflict materials, businesses both large and small are facing a great deal of pressure to institute sustainable business models.
