10 Out of 10 for Fab Lab Opening in Houston
Chevron and its partners, the Fab Foundation and BakerRipley, recently celebrated the grand opening of its tenth fabrication laboratory (Fab Lab). Located at the BakerRipley East Aldine Campus in Houston, the Chevron-supported facility has been in planning for two years and will serve as a technical resource for K-12 students, university students and the entire community. Fab Labs are for innovation, learning and invention: a place to play, to create, to learn, to mentor, and to invent.
National Parks, Museums, and Grade 9 Civics – It’s about the Experiences that Bring Us Together
Deciding to put roots down in a new location or a whole new country can be overwhelming. There are many reasons that can lead people to move, but what draws a person to stay? Feeling a sense of belonging to your community and society is one factor that can influence how comfortable you feel with where you live – whether you’re a newcomer or long-term resident.
From the Street to the Street: The Circular Economy in Ghana
The ASASE (‘Mother Earth’) Foundation has put the circular economy into practice through its CASH IT! social enterprise, aiming to establish a replicable, sustainable business model, formalizing employment, mobilizing volunteers, and creating a product desperately needed by the community from trash that formerly littered the streets. It’s sustainability in action. Book Excerpt — Purpose Power: How Mission-Driven Leaders Engage for Change
Purpose Power provides inspiration for action. Whether you’re itching to start a movement, in the midst of building a mission-driven brand, or rebranding an organization with a storied history, this book will inspire you to imagine new possibilities. The book explains the Heptagon Method, a seven-step framework that helps you take big ideas from ideology to action. It instructs how you can motivate your allies to become advocates for your cause. This bias toward action and against analysis paralysis—the antithesis of enthusiasm and momentum—can be a real asset for organizations motivated to make a difference. But leaders should also be wary of haphazard action leading to inconsistent results. This boo

The Wellness Economy is one of the biggest industries today as many are looking for solutions to manage health and well-being. Pollution, manufactured goods, and other pressures are among some of the factors driving people to consider simpler, more natural options. Those same stresses are also impacting the health of the planet – so why not invest in the same type of care for the environment?

How Brands are Empowering Consumers to Accelerate Change
A month ago, Paris hosted the first European Sustainable Brands conference during a volatile time for the region; the grassroots Gilets Jaunes (Yellow Vests) movement protesting high taxes and economic inequality in the French capital, young people from the Youth Strike 4 Climate movement organizing protests in various UK cities and the disastrous fire at Notre Dame cathedral bringing modern philanthropy back to the debate table. With over 3,000 attendees representing a mix of entrepreneurs, start-ups, non-profits, and brand managers of large companies, it was an inspiring and refreshing experience.
