Team Rubicon: Why I Continue to Serve

In December of 2015, I was at home with my family enjoying the rest of the holiday season when multiple tornadoes hit the Dallas area. We later found out that some of our friends were impacted by one of the tornados. My natural instinct was to get in the car immediately to provide the support they needed. In all honesty, I did not have a plan. I just wanted to help.

Citi Foundation Expands Community Progress Makers Fund to Support U.S. Nonprofit Organizations Addressing Urban Challenges

The Citi Foundation today announced an expansion of its Community Progress Makers Fund, through an investment of an additional $20 million in leading nonprofit organizations across six U.S. cities. Organizations serving Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, San Francisco Bay Area and Washington, D.C., may apply for grants up to $500,000 through the open Request for Applications. The deadline is December 18, 2017.

Cox and the Trust for Public Land Announce John Walther as Louisiana’s 2017 Cox Conserves Hero

Cox Communications and The Trust for Public Land last night named John Walther as Louisiana’s 2017 Cox Conserves Hero during an opening reception at the Center for Planning Excellence’s (CPEX) Louisiana Smart Growth Summit. Coastal Conservation Association of Louisiana (CCA Louisiana), Walther’s nonprofit beneficiary, will receive $10,000.

Boeing Announces More Than $50 Million in Grants to Support Nonprofits Worldwide

Boeing today announced more than $50 million in grants to more than 500 nonprofit organizations across 50 countries globally. The annual contributions include a three-year commitment of more than $25 million in support of veterans’ recovery and rehabilitation programs and transition services. The charitable grants package will fund programs through 2018 and supplement an anticipated $117 million in company-wide business and employee contributions to similar causes—bringing Boeing’s total community investments to approximately $167 million this year alone.

PT Freeport Indonesia, a Freeport-McMoRan company, has sponsored a coffee farmer collective in Papua, Indonesia since 2000. For 17 years Amungme Gold coffee has been farmed and processed by indigenous Amungme farmers under the guidance of Freeport’s entrepreneur business program to meet growing demand from consumers.
