A Wells Fargo grant is helping a Grammy award-winning artist continue to support the troops at Camp Southern Ground. Former Army Master Sgt. Orlando Aikens went to camp for a day and returned home with a clearer view of his future.

This week more than 35 AEG Facilities-affiliated arenas, stadiums, theaters, clubs and convention centers nationwide are celebrating America Recycles Day, a nationally-recognized event organized by Keep America Beautiful to promote recycling in the United States. Throughout the week, AEG venues will host a variety of events, from cell phone recycling drives to recycling awareness campaigns, to encourage guests, employees and community members to make recycling a part of their lives.

This year, Common Impact is hosting a Twitter chat on Tuesday, November 28th to reflect on a year in review through the lens of skills-based volunteering (SBV). In light of everything that happened over the past year, we will explore ways in which nonprofits and corporations are working together to building nonprofit capacity and enhance the social sector’s ability to meet their missions.

CITGO Lemont Refinery and the Village of Lemont and Lemont Environmental Advisory Commission partnered to host the semi-annual fall Recycling Day on Oct. 14. The event provided an opportunity for community residents to drop off unwanted recyclable items and household waste.

This school year, underrepresented high school students in eight cities nationwide are learning principles of design thinking, and how to apply them to emerging technology and mobile devices to serve as creative solutions for local small businesses and non-profits.
