This spring, Timberland employees kicked off their 11th annual Victory Garden season at the brand’s global headquarters in Stratham, NH. Each year, dozens of employee volunteers pull on their boots and slip on their gardening gloves to plant, weed, water and harvest the many vegetables and fruits grown just outside the building’s front entrance.

August 2, 2018 marked Nestlé's third annual Nestlé Cares day of service, an effort that unites its eight operating companies in 47 states to make a difference through more than 150 events nationwide. This year, Nestlé expanded its work with Feeding America®, the largest domestic hunger-relief organization in the U.S., to support local food banks and non-profit organizations that provide nutritious foods to families in need.

Together with the UPS African American Business Resource Group and The UPS Foundation, new UPS CMO Kevin Warren led volunteers to create hygiene kits for Atlanta homeless teens.

After moving back to Allentown where Sands Bethlehem is located from New Jersey, Susan Stachowski reached out to former colleagues connected to Las Vegas Sands and received an opportunity to work with the President and development team opening Sands Bethlehem. A Team Member since 2007, Stachowski moved positions, landing in her current position leading the properties social responsibility program, Sands Cares.

The Tri-State Diversity Council will be hosting the 2018 Diversity and Leadership Conference on August 23, 2018, at the New Yorker Hotel. The conference will feature multiple speakers presenting on a variety of topics regarding the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. In addition, top business leaders will be recognized with a series of awards highlighting their commitment to effective and progressive leadership.

Despite health improvements made across Africa in recent years, significant health challenges remain for 1.2 billion people living across the continent. The region shoulders some of the world's heaviest infectious disease burdens: 90 percent of the world’s malaria cases and nearly 70 percent of the 36.7 million HIV cases worldwide. Adding further complication, healthcare access for those living in rural sub-Saharan Africa is limited. This is where Abbott's life-changing technologies, and a commitment to pioneering collaboration, are making a difference.

As a leader at the world’s largest food and beverage company, I know that no single person, company, or organization can solve hunger, but our collective efforts can change lives.

I’m proud to say that Nestlé and our employees across the country take enormous pride in the role we play in working toward a solution. For 2018, Nestlé’s annual Day of Service in the U.S. will focus on combating hunger in our communities. Our employees will work at more than 75 events across the country, doing everything from preparing meals for families here in Northern Virginia, to serving at a Cleveland food bank, to leading a food drive in Oakland, California. These are only a few of the volunteer efforts organized across our factories, distribution centers, headquarters, and many locations in between.

One in three children in Washington, D.C.’s Wards 7 and 8, east of the Anacostia River, live in households that are food insecure, where their families don’t know if they’ll have enough to eat every month, said Mike Curtin Jr., CEO of D.C. Central Kitchen. That’s one of the many reasons the nonprofit is working to fight poverty in the nation’s capital.
