The Sustainable Agriculture Initiative Platform (SAI Platform) and SCS Global Services (SCS) are pleased to announce the outcome of a benchmarking effort between SCS’ Sustainably Grown® Certification Program and SAI Platform’s Farm Sustainability Assessment (FSA) tool. Sustainably Grown has earned Silver level equivalence to the FSA Version 2.0. This accomplishment means that products certified as Sustainably Grown can also be recognized at FSA silver level and contribute to many SAI Platform members’ sustainable sourcing targets.

La iniciativa está destinada a buscar organizaciones que se especialicen en el desarrollo de la mipyme en la región y reconocer su labor en el crecimiento económico de los países otorgándoles recursos.

The US State Department, the World Environment Center (WEC), Le Groupe-conseil baastel Itée (Baastel) and RioSlum Studio announced the launching of the “Power to Grow” Challenge. The challenge has been promoted by a partnership called La Red de Innovación e Impacto, funded by the US State Department and formed by different organizations. The initiative aims to find organizations specialized in the MSME development in the Central American region and reward their contribution to the economic growth of the countries by providing them with resources.

The Challenge is open to NGOs operating in the member countries of La Red de Innovación e Impacto, with April 27th as the application due date.

“Unless we go to Circular it's game over for the planet; it's game over for society”. These are the opening words of the world’s first feature-length documentary film on the circular economy, called Closing the Loop, due for public release on Earth Day, 22 April 2018. Going “circular” refers to the necessary change from our current take-make-waste linear economy to a borrow-use-return circular economy (sometimes also referred to as the zero-waste or cradle-to-cradle economy).

On Monday afternoon, Michael Bloomberg, the billionaire businessman and former three-term Mayor of New York City, escaped to a deserted ballroom at the Grand Hyatt, in midtown Manhattan, to talk about climate change. Moments earlier, he had announced to attendees of the Bloomberg New Energy Finance summit that his philanthropic organization was partnering with the Canadian and British governments to expedite the global eradication of coal mining. His two new partners—Catherine McKenna, Canada’s minister of environment and climate change, and Claire Perry, the United Kingdom’s minister of state for energy and clean growth—came along for the discussion.
