Unexpected household shocks can seriously jeopardize the livelihoods of the poorest entrepreneurs and their families. The microfinance sector may be in its infancy in successfully providing access to financial products to buffer the effects of devastating health emergencies, floods, droughts, fires and other disasters, but we have seen innovative approaches from partners all over the world designed to mitigate these unexpected events.

Aramark Associates Revitalize Playground for Wynnewood Family Hope Center

More than 10,000 Aramark (NYSE: ARMK) team members, including more than 100 from the Dallas area, volunteered to support community centers and nonprofit organizations in the communities where they live and work, on Aramark Building Community Day (ABC Day).

Volunteers in 15 countries, including the U.S., Canada, Chile, China and the United Kingdom, gave their time, energy and expertise to over 500 service projects, which will bring health and wellness education and workforce readiness programs to families in underserved communities.

2017 Nickterns Spruce Up California Boys & Girls Club

The summer 2017 Nicktern class united to create a mural at the Boys & Girls Club of Burbank and Greater East Valley. The mural, which is one of their largest to date, covers more than 300 square feet and employs a number of Boys & Girls Club themes.

In 2008, the Osage Nation became the first U.S. Tribal group to partner with TransCanada as we began consultation on the Keystone Pipeline System, which has now safely transported energy for over six years. Since then, we have continued to collaborate with the Osage on initiatives such as the cultural preservation programs.

Wells Fargo Donates $250,000 for Mexico Earthquake Relief Efforts

Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) today announced a $250,000 donation to the American Red Cross to assist with relief efforts in areas of central Mexico that were devastated by a Sept. 19 earthquake. This donation will help the Red Cross assist with preparedness, relief and recovery efforts following the 7.1 magnitude earthquake that killed more than 200 people, injured hundreds more and destroyed buildings and key infrastructure throughout the region. Wells Fargo has maintained a presence in Mexico since 1860.
