Volkswagen Group of America (VWGoA) recently concluded its inaugural Get Involved “Summer of Service” in which more than 450 employees around the country volunteered over 1400 hours with charitable organizations in the communities where they live and work. The Summer of Service featured more than 25 different employee volunteer projects organized by seven VWGoA locations across the United States.

More than 10,000 Aramark (NYSE: ARMK) team members, including chefs, dietitians and human resources experts, will volunteer to support community centers and nonprofit organizations in the communities where they live and work, on Aramark Building Community Day (ABC Day).

For more than a decade, the Clinton Global Initiative was the star-studded marquee attraction during the annual meeting of the United Nations General Assembly, a place where heads of state, celebrities, billionaire philanthropists and business people mingled, made deals and gave away millions, sometimes billions, of dollars.

Xylem announced plans to expand its support to $1 million in contributions and volunteer time to the recovery and rebuild efforts underway in response to some of the most devastating weather events on record: Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, and the severe flooding in India, Nepal and Bangladesh. The Company’s actions include monetary contributions from the Company and its corporate citizenship initiative Xylem Watermark, employee plus matching gift donations and an expansion of its ongoing employee volunteer initiatives in the affected areas.

“The single biggest indicator for academic success is having books at home,” said Fatima Yousef, the 16-year-old founder of the nonprofit Stories for a Future. While it’s a statistic she knows by heart, she also knows that having books may not be a reality for many low-income youth.

Carnival Cruise Line’s Captain Vittorio Marchi and other volunteers from Carnival Spirit worked shoulder to shoulder with the local community at Lifou in New Caledonia playing their part in an international movement to clean up the world's coast lines.
