Subaru of America, Inc. and Greensgrow Farms, Philadelphia’s famous urban farm and community garden center, will welcome its neighbors and visitors to celebrate the fall season at the Subaru Fall Festival at Greensgrow Farms on October 7, 2017. The Subaru Fall Festival at Greensgrow Farms is Philadelphia’s premier harvest season event, expecting crowds of over 4,000 people from all over the region.

Motivated by the need caused by the devastation from Hurricane Harvey and the threat of Hurricane Irma, Keep America Beautiful, the nation’s iconic community improvement nonprofit organization, today launched the Community Restoration and Resiliency Fund. Lowe’s, a long-time national sponsor of Keep America Beautiful, has agreed to become a founding member of the fund with a donation of more than $125,000. Most people would agree that forests are a vital part of a healthy planet: around 1.6 billion people directly depend on forests for their livelihoods, and forest trees help provide us with healthy soils, clean water and even breathable air. The role of fungi is less well known. Yet without fungi, forests would not exist.
As climate change continues to impact the planet – and governments and organizations worldwide set standards to reduce its harmful effects – it’s important for companies to rethink how their products are created, used and maintained. The smartest, most sustainable products are not only crafted with care as part of a closed-loop supply chain; they’re optimized to enable consumers to enter the circular economy with little effort.
Each submission I reviewed involved an immense amount of work from these teams, and I’m grateful to them for the time and effort they put toward the challenge. While as judges we couldn’t advance every team to the Accelerator Phase, I was impressed by every entry I saw.
