Some of the most breathtaking natural wonders of the world are found deep in forests. Pristine lakes, towering trees, and scenic views attract thousands of tourists to these protected sites. But many of these sites are filled with hauntings pasts.

This October, the Healthcare Plastics Recycling Council (HPRC), in conjunction with the Plastics Industry Association hosted a Paper & Plastics Recycling Conference workshop aimed at helping recyclers learn more about the opportunity presented by healthcare plastics.

HP Boise’s landscaping project conserves water and wildlife, taking into consideration the local ecosystem and using local materials and plants. It is the first large corporate campus to earn a SITES certification in the state of Idaho, and the first corporate campus in the world to be certified using the SITES v2 rating system.This project is another example of how HP is reinventing for a more sustainable world.

The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) today announced $2 million in grants to eight nonprofit organizations to increase community capacity to plan and implement resilience projects and improve the protections afforded by natural ecosystems by investing in green infrastructure and other measures across the United States. The grants will generate $11 million in matching contributions for a total conservation impact of $13 million.

Europeans were long familiar with the qualities of the maple wood. Species growing in the old world were used for the unpleasantness of pikes and lances. The Arbor Day Foundation will hold the 2017 Partners in Community Forestry Conference in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on November 15–16. The conference is one of the largest urban forestry gatherings of its kind and attracts leading experts from around the world to share the latest practices and lessons in city forest management and citizen engagement.
