LA Galaxy and The Partnership for A Healthier America Team up for a Second Year in Support of “Drink Up” Initiative to Encourage Water Consumption Across Los Angeles

The LA Galaxy and the Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA), a non-profit organization that works with the private sector to make healthier choices easier for busy parents and families, and an official partner of the club, are teaming up for a second year. The partnership will help bring water consumption awareness to Hispanic communities across east Los Angeles through Drink Up’s “H20 Claro,” campaign and various community events.

CITGO Corpus Christi is supporting Ready or Not Foundation’s efforts in pediatric cancer research by sponsoring this year’s Best Dressed Luncheon on Sept. 21 at the Solomon P. Ortiz International Center. Childhood brain tumors are the leading cause of death in pediatric cancer patients under the age of 19, and the Ready or Not Foundation aims to increase awareness and raise funds for vital research.

CITGO Lake Charles looks for opportunities to award deserving local students for academic excellence and recently awarded $5,000 in scholarship funds to McNeese State University Business students. The MSU business scholarship recipients each received a $1,000 scholarship towards their college education – a share of the $5,000 scholarship funds that CITGO awards to Business students annually.

ACC graduate receives Consumers Energy Foundation Scholarship

Brayden Bell, a 2017 graduate of Alpena Community College’s Utility Technician Program, was one of two recipients selected to receive a $2,500 Consumers Energy/Jeffrey Creel Memorial Scholarship. Bell used the scholarship to attend 10-week courses held at the Consumers Energy’s training center in Marshall.

De Beers Helps Fund a New Book to Tell Tłı̨chǫ Stories From Long Ago

Tłı̨chǫ Whaèhdǫǫ̀ Godıı̀ (Tłı̨chǫ Storıes from Long Ago) and an accompanying Teachers’ Guide were launched at an event held in Behchokǫ̀.

Tammy Steinwand-Deschambeault, Culture and Language Coordinator for the Tłı̨cho Community Services Association (TCSA), said: “These are our stories from long ago that have been passed down to us. When young people are out on the land, the evidence is out there for them to see. Our history helps them know who they are as Tłı̨cho people.”

LA Galaxy Foundation Teams Up with Playworks to Support Healthy Play in Southern California

AEG’s LA Galaxy Foundation has formed a new partnership with Playworks to support programming in Southern California schools during the 2017-18 school year. As part of the partnership, the LA Galaxy will donate adidas LA Galaxy jerseys to youth in the Playworks soccer program. Playworks, a nonprofit promoting the power of play for children before, during and after school, serves more than 40,000 children in 64 schools across Southern California.
