This past year we’ve launched an unprecedented amount of investments and initiatives all to support our customers and business. With our portfolio of high-quality sustainable products, including our new paperboard packaging, along with our outreach and marketing efforts, Sappi is here to serve its customers for the long haul.

The organization I work for—Mercy Corps—strives to alleviate suffering, poverty, and oppression through economic development and emergency relief programs around the world. This work has always been challenging. We’ve seen firsthand the fragmentation of armed actors in the Syrian War or increasing climate variability in the Horn of Africa, a region already made vulnerable by poverty and violent extremism. Add to this complexity, an emerging digital space where media platforms are used to recruit terrorists, manipulate voters, or incite violence against minorities.

When a cause needs to process a paper donation check, it creates costly administrative work. Non-profits must deposit each check and issue manual tax receipts. Benevity sends the majority (88% in 2018!) of payments processed through our platform electronically, with funds arriving within 30 days, making us a leader in the industry.

This summer, for the first time, Alexion partnered with law firm White & Case to host a Diversity Fellow at its Boston Headquarters. White & Case’s 1L Diversity Fellowship program provides qualified first-year law students with experience working with clients, specifically those seeking to create an environment where the diversity of thought and background are not only encouraged, but preferred. During her fellowship, Celina Antonellis, a law student at University of Pennsylvania, joined Alexion’s legal team for several weeks to support a variety of projects.

Aramark (ARMK), a global leader in food, facilities management and uniforms, announced today that it will provide the opportunity for eligible hourly associates in the U.S. to receive full tuition coverage for college degrees.

Now in its ninth year, JetBlue is bringing its Soar With Reading program straight to its hometown of New York City. The initiative is tackling book availability in underserved areas through utilizing book vending machines, allowing kids to pick up free books whenever they want, right in their own communities.

The dirt road got bumpier and the jungle more beautiful, with a seemingly endless variety of trees and wildlife. The villages announced themselves with their wood and straw houses. Residents sat on porches, manning micro markets and looking after children. Others were heading out, machete in hand, to tend their parcels of farmland.

Improvements in building efficiency provide cost savings to landlords and tenants. Impactful initiatives include installation of more efficient LED lighting; upgrades to HVAC; smart metering; reductions in water consumption; and waste management. Also sustainably-managed structures typically command higher rents, and experience lower vacancy and higher tenant satisfaction.
