Hunger in America is a striking epidemic. According to the USDA Economic Research Service and Feeding America, one in every six people face hunger in our country. A shocking 20.6 percent of households with children are food insecure.

Standardized Maintenance & Supply Chain Innovation
Through fleet automation, Republic Services’ One Fleet standardized vehicle maintenance program, conversion to compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks, and the use of renewable natural gas derived from organic waste, Republic has lowered our fossil fuel usage, which also reduces costs.

Recovering Value from Exploration & Production Waste
There’s a Renaissance in Texas’ Permian Basin. Not a renaissance of art or literature, but of oil. In the past year, the number of active drill rigs operating in the local area has tripled. More exploration and production (E&P) = more solids and liquid-based muds, or byproducts from the E&P processes that must be managed responsibly. The renaissance is great for business. But, it’s also good for the environment.

Organics are a fast growing part of an evolving waste stream and represent nearly 30% of what Americans discard daily. According to the EPA, food waste is the second largest category of municipal solid waste sent to the nation’s landfills. At Republic Services, we are working with some of our nation’s most iconic hotels, resorts and theme parks, and forward-thinking municipalities, on sustainable solutions for their organics needs.

Converting Waste Into Renewable Energy
Responsible landfill management involves the proper handling of landfill gas and liquids, which are byproducts of the decomposition of waste. It requires considerable science, engineering and technology to manage an evolving waste stream in a manner that is protective of the air, land and water for generations to come. It also involves a relentless commitment to innovation.
