Domtar's Featured Difference Maker: Felimar Figueroa, Founder of Amie La Foundation Des Immigrants
“The situation in my country is worse and worse every day,” said Figueroa, 48, a Montreal-based export process team leader for Domtar’s logistics team. “There is violence and killing. People are being kidnapped. There is no food or medicine. People are desperate and dying. I cry for my family and about the situation.” But Figueroa is on a mission to help the people in Venezuela, through Amie La Foundation Des Immigrants (which translates from French as “Friend Foundation of Immigrants”), which she founded a year ago.

Domtar's Featured Difference Maker: Karen Calder, Executive Director of Classroom Central
In the months following 9/11, Karen Calder searched for a way to better serve her community. One day, she read a feasibility study about a new project called Classroom Central, a proposed nonprofit aimed at providing school supplies to children living in poverty. The study moved her to tears.

Andrew Tremblay and the WWF-Canada’s CN Tower Climb for Nature
Ten years ago, Domtar Difference Maker Andrew Tremblay sized up up the CN Tower’s 147 stories and 1,776 stairs before taking his first try at the CN Tower Climb for Nature, a fundraiser put on by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Canada to help ensure a healthy, thriving planet. Find out why.

Through Khloe’s efforts, four generations of women are working together to provide help for homeless women through Khloe Kares. This small but heartfelt initiative provides basic necessities to homeless women in and near Fullerton, California.

Domtar Employee Dianne Loewen Nominated as a Domtar Difference Maker
In the 20 years that Dianne Loewen has lived and worked in Dryden, Ontario, she has seen time and again how the tight-knit community helps others. Loewen uses the words “wonderful,” “warm” and “family-oriented” to describe both her community and the employees of Domtar’s mill in Dryden, Ontario, where she has worked for the past two decades.

Domtar Employee Heather Stowe Nominated as a Domtar Difference Maker
Domtar’s EarthChoice Ambassadors program is an employee engagement program that began in 2011 to promote sustainable principles throughout the company. Now going into its seventh year, this very successful program is on track to have chapters in place at all Domtar facilities by 2020. And, with more than 500 ambassadors, Domtar’s EarthChoice Ambassadors put in more than 2,000 hours of volunteer work last year.
