As one of Duke Energy’s Water Resources Fund recipients, the Hornet’s Nest Council brought the Wonders of Water and Wildlife (WoWW) program to its campus in Iredell County, which serves the surrounding eight counties. The program is developing tomorrow’s leaders in water conservation by teaching girls how to improve water quality and quantity.

This event, a one-mile just-for-fun run for kids age 5-12, is an annual lead-up activity to the largest marathon in the world that doesn't offer prize money. Sodexo has sponsored the event since 2003.
The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) today announced $2 million in grants to eight nonprofit organizations to increase community capacity to plan and implement resilience projects and improve the protections afforded by natural ecosystems by investing in green infrastructure and other measures across the United States. The grants will generate $11 million in matching contributions for a total conservation impact of $13 million.
