The JetBlue Foundation has pledged $100,000 worth of grants to STEM education programs in Puerto Rico. JetBlue has offered service to Puerto Rico since 2002 and last year initiated 100x35JetBlue, a hurricane recovery and relief initiative. The airline currently serves three destinations in Puerto Rico including its San Juan focus city where JetBlue is the largest carrier, as well as Aguadilla and Ponce.
Grants from the JetBlue Foundation will help further the airline’s efforts to invest in the island’s future and place aviation fields top-of-mind as career choices for students. The JetBlue Foundation will award $100,000 to qualified schools and organizations to fuel learning in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
GLAM4GOOD, the award-winning, empowerment platform and non-profit organization, headed to Puerto Rico last week to hold an emergency aid initiative in San Juan on Wednesday, May 23rd. This event was planned in response to a request from San Jorge Children’s Hospital to bring help, happiness, and hope to children who are not only dealing with critical illness, but also with the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.
Hormel Foods Corporation today announced it has donated over 37,000 cases (600,000+ cans) of shelf-stable food products to Convoy of Hope for disaster- and other hunger-relief efforts around the world. A portion of the products donated were sent to Hawaii to help with volcano disaster-relief efforts.
At the beginning of the 2018 hurricane season, Rebuilding Together, the leading national nonprofit organization with a mission of repairing homes, revitalizing communities, rebuilding lives, is continuing its disaster recovery work in four states affected by natural disaster in 2017 and 2016.
When Ryan Bennie mentioned that he and his fellow firefighters “need a break,” he was saying a mouthful. Ryan was front and center during the Northern California wildfires that erupted in October 2017, racking up more than $9 billion in damages and taking dozens of lives along the way.
“It’s hopefully my career fire,” he says.
In addition to serving as a California firefighter and training captain for the Napa County Fire Department, Ryan heads up the Napa County Firefighters Association, a nonprofit organization that supports area fire departments with training and other services. On March 26, Ryan was on hand to accept a donation of 2,000 pounds of CytoSport products in honor of the association and the work of Napa Valley firefighters.
Ecolab Inc. continued its commitment to supporting communities in need throughout 2017 by providing 665 tons of cleaning, sanitizing and public health products, valued at more than $5 million, to support natural disaster relief efforts throughout the world. Through partnerships with non-profit organizations, Ecolab’s products supported relief efforts in areas affected by natural disasters in North and South America, Europe and Asia.
