Samsung Recognized as a Nationwide Leader in Giving Back to Communities Across the U.S.

Samsung today announced that the company has received several awards for its achievements driving innovation forward in technology and in society. These awards range from its recycling programs to the design of its products to its initiatives giving back to communities across the country. The first of the awards will be presented at the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries’ (ISRI) annual convention in Las Vegas this week.

USAID Joins Nespresso and TechnoServe to Support South Sudan’s Coffee Farmers

Nespresso and TechnoServe, a development non-profit organization, are pleased to announce a new partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to strengthen efforts to rebuild the coffee industry in the new country of South Sudan and improve coffee farmer livelihoods. USAID will invest $3.18 million during three years in the project, which has already helped revive South Sudan’s coffee industry, diversify its export market and raise the household incomes of smallholder coffee farmers.

On April 4-8 2016, the Novartis Institute for Tropical Diseases (NITD) held a Symposium on Parasitology in Lusaka, Zambia, bringing together international and local experts in the field with the aim of engaging in productive scientific exchange on parasitic diseases - including malaria, sleeping sickness (Human African Trypanosomiasis), Chagas, leishmaniasis, and cryptosporidiosis. Experts engaged in discussions over target product profiles for these diseases and shared the latest accomplishments in drug discovery and cutting edge basic research that will potentially enable the delivery of novel drug candidates with the adequate pharmacological profiles.
