LGBTQ youth face higher rates of bullying, discrimination, and homelessness than their non LGBTQ peers. The recent attempts to withhold rights from transgender students in multiple states is indicative of the struggles that LGBTQ youth face today. Without major changes to the current trends of anti-LGBTQ sentiments, youth will continue to suffer at home and in schools. Rates of LGBTQ youth homelessness will remain at high levels, the disproportionate suicide rate will not change, and youth will continue to feel unsafe at schools due to discrimination.
