Ending Summer Hunger: A Team Effort
A staggering 15.3 million American children live in food insecure households. Right here in our own country, maybe even in your own neighborhood, there are children who have become used to living with the sounds of a growling stomach. These are kids who aren’t lucky enough to be picky eaters; who don’t have the luxury of asking “What’s for dinner tonight?” but instead, ask “Are we having dinner tonight?”

I’ve been with Darden 25 years in June. For the last 17 of those years, I’ve been a bartender and server at the LongHorn Steakhouse on Eastgate North Drive in Cincinnati, OH. Olive Garden Server Diane Eslinger who celebrated her 35th anniversary with Darden recently has a large group of regular guests and has been named salesperson of the month multiple times, said General Manager Kelly Lynch.

Today we hear from Shirley Wells, a 35-year Darden team member, has been a cook at the Olive Garden in Springfield, IL, for 21 years. She was honored with a culinary trip to Italy in 2006.

Making an Impact Around the Globe: A Garden Makeover for Molly
Meet Molly, a determined 12-year-old girl who likes to giggle and play with her sister. Molly also has PHACE syndrome, a condition affecting the arterial formation in her brain, which led to a stroke. Although Molly has regained some movement and speech, she is wheelchair dependent and needs help with all aspects of daily life.
