My Greatest Challenge Became My Greatest Joy
In November of 2015, I received a referral for an 18-year-old girl, who also had a one-year-old daughter. I quickly learned that she was not allowed to contact much of her biological family and many of her other family members had extensive criminal backgrounds. I knew immediately that finding Rebecca and her daughter an adoptive home might be the biggest challenge of my career. So let me tell you how I did it.

Family Recipe: Aaron Ewen Keeps it Consistent
Meet Aaron Ewen. Aaron works for First Sun Management Corporation, a Wendy’s franchise organization based in South Carolina. Before Aaron was promoted to district manager, he was a general manager and his franchise organization named his Wendy’s “restaurant of the year” in 2016, which is pretty impressive because, in Aaron’s words, “The Clemson location is the only Wendy’s that I have had the honor of running.”

Why Use Big Data to Measure CSR?
In the past several posts, we have defined Big Data, shown the problems we hope it will address, and described how CSRHub has implemented a Big Data approach to creating corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability ratings. It is time now to discuss the benefits and drawbacks of the “Big Data” approach.
Ecocentricity Blog - Front Six: Sensitizing Stakeholders
So remember, it’s never okay for someone to say, “I can’t do much – I’m just one person.” That is categorically false. None of us are just one person, but rather parts of our families, friend groups and communities.
Talent Acquisition in the 21st Century and the Role of CSR
We are witnessing an unprecedented technological explosion unfold, and the number of industries and occupations with a shortage of skilled talent is growing as well. As a direct result, companies are doing more to brush up on their talent acquisition processes and finding ways to attract truly top talent. One of the best things about this is that corporate social responsibility (CSR) is getting its due attention.
Unreasonable Impact | Innovation: Sexy, But Not Always Right
For much of the past 25 years, I’ve dedicated my time to figuring out how mobile technology might help support positive social and environmental change in the developing world. During that time, I created FrontlineSMS, an open source software for grassroots organizations to distribute and collect information via text messages, and it was built from the ground up to reach global scale. Along the way, I spent time living and working in many communities where I both led and witnessed development projects firsthand. I’ve seen attempts at innovation go well, and I’ve seen others crash and burn.
Unreasonable Impact | Modern Energy Could Mean the Difference Between Peace and Unrest
When we think about the things we take for granted, one of the most common is access to basic energy. Turning on a lamp so you can teach your children how to read, watching the evening news, or working into the night on your computer are all basic acts that most of us don’t even consider to be a privilege. Over 500 million people have a mobile phone without a place to charge it at home – a basic convenience needed to conduct commerce.
Unreasonable Impact | Rescuing Old Clothes From Landfills by Turning Them Into New Fabric and Fuel
Jeplan envisions a circular world in which we take all used or unwanted personal belongings, recycle the materials, and then sell them as new products. Starting with cotton and polyester, this company is reimagining waste disposal, which reduces the use of petroleum and diminishes carbon emissions. Based in Japan, Jeplan has established collection points around the country in collaboration with major retail and apparel brands to gather discarded clothes. Then, Jeplan sells the final products back to these brands and their consumers.
