Turning Data into Stories: S&P Global Volunteers & SARA Share Community Impact
In June, Common Impact worked with our corporate partner S&P Global to deploy a team of skilled volunteers in Charlottesville, VA. The volunteer team was eager to share their expertise in data management with a nonprofit partner seeking to better communicate their stories of impact through data. SARA or the Sexual Assault Recovery Agency was excited to work with S&P experts to help organize their existing metrics and identify key data to highlight the effectiveness and importance of their prevention and response activities.

It’s Not Just Hard Work: It’s Knowing How the Company Works
As I reflected on the unpredictable zigs and zags of my career, I thought back to that very confident (my mother would have said way too confident) and dare I say naive 22-year-old, and I’m still in awe of where I find myself today. My worldview, desire for inclusion and appreciation for experiences have grown. Although, a few things haven’t changed, including my belief that the power of possibility can be limitless, desire to be quicker and an unquenchable thirst for more information to power change. As a friend and colleague recently said to my team during an off-site meeting in York, U.K.: “It’s not just hard work, it’s knowing how our business works that leads to success.” In my mind, truer words have never been spoken, and that all started proofreading catalogs.

Jennifer Ribotti, Water Infrastructure Expert, Discusses STEM Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives
Jennifer Ribotti (Roque) is an environmental project engineer based in Tetra Tech’s Orlando, Florida, office. She supports municipal water, reclaimed water, and wastewater infrastructure projects and worked on the first direct potable reuse (DPR) pilot project in Florida to produce drinking water from wastewater. The purified water produced was used to create craft beers that were distributed at the 31st Annual WateReuse Symposium in Tampa, Florida. She also worked on a water treatment plant expansion project in Eagle Pass, Texas, a border community along the Rio Grande river.
